Sydney Track Classic

Hi guys! This weekend (Saturday 15th March) I am running a 400m at the Sydney Track Classic at Sydney Olympic Park, Homebush. This is probably the biggest meet in Australia besides Nationals and I'm lucky because it's in my home town! I have been training really well lately and am really positive about where I'm heading.

Excitingly, I just found out we have an international runner in the women's 400m race from USA. Her name is Natasha Hastings, she is the current US 400m Champion and a finalist at the Olympics and the World Championships. Her PB of 49.84 puts her in the sub-50 second club and amongst the top few in the world. It's really exciting to get the opportunity to race someone of this calibre and hopefully she will push me to a personal best time and a Commonwealth Games qualifying time!

Here she is racing for USA at last years World Championships in Moscow.Image

From Australia there is also a great field of up and coming sprinters, and seasoned one-lappers including Caitlin Sargent (QLD), Lauren Wells (nee Boden, ACT) and a host of others. Our race is on at 8pm, but the action starts from around 7pm - you can buy tickets at the gate!

In other events during the night we have our very own champion Sally Pearson competing in the 100m and 200m against the new Australian 100m Record Holder Melissa Breen, Olympic and World 400m Champion Lashawn Merrit (USA), World Champion 800m Eunice Sum (KEN), Ex-World Record Holder/Olympic and World Champion 110m Hurdles David Oliver (USA). Some incredible athletes that are definitely worth watching!!!

Hopefully see you out there!

A. xx
