Ready to Race. 2013 season is on it's way!

Hello friends and family :) Happy 2013! So as the domestic athletics season is upon us again, I thought I would give you a little update as to how I am training and preparing, and which races I will be competing in!

I've had a hard winter block of training, which involved many sand dune and grass hill training sessions, all to have me fitter and stronger for the new year! I competed at my first Australian University Games in Adelaide for Sydney University a few months back which was a lot of fun. There I won the 400m hurdles (my debut hurdles race!), and the 800m. The Sydney Uni team dominated on and off the track, we had such good team spirit; which for an individual sport it is sometimes hard to come by, so I was really proud to be a part of our team.

I ran my 400m opener this weekend at the NSW Club Championships where I did a PB of 53.06! I was really pleased to do a personal best in my first race this year, it makes me a lot more confident and hungrier for success. Couldn't believe it had almost been a year since my last 400m race. I have to admit, I almost forgot how hard they were! But I am really excited to get back in the groove of racing, which brings me to......

The 2013 domestic racing schedule: February 2nd = 400m @ Hunter Track Classic (Newcastle) March 1-3rd = 400m @ State Championships (Sydney) March 9th = 200m @ Sydney Track Classic (Sydney) March 16th = 400m @ Perth Track Classic (Perth) April 6th = 400m @ IAAF World Challenge (Melbourne) April 11-14th = 400m @ Australian Athletics Championships & World Championship selection trials. (Sydney)

So my goal this year is to qualify for the World Championships which are in Moscow, Russia. To do this I need to run either an 'A' or 'B' time and win the selection trials. These are:

A standard = 51.55 B standard = 52.35

I will endeavour to post my race results as they happen up here, and hopefully you will read one of the times above in the near future!

Love to everyone,

A.xx
