Start of 2011

Hi there,So I haven't updated in a while, I thought I should let everyone know where I'm up to seeing as though it's already the new year.... Last year was massive for me, I became Australian Junior Champ, went to World Juniors, and then got selected for a spot in the 4x400m relay at the Continental Cup in Croatia. I'm hoping 2011 will bring new experiences and a lot more speed! Since coming back from Croatia I took a couple of weeks off to let my legs recover from such a hard year. Then I jumped straight back into training and also began a new strength and conditioning gym program at NSWIS. I've found this really difficult but already after 3 months of consistent weights and gym work I feel 100% stronger. My first proper race this year is on Saturday 29th of January, where I will compete against Australian 400m Champion Jody Henry, and Athletics all-star Tamsyn Lewis to name a few. It's a meet called the Hunter Track Classic and is part of the "Australian Athletics Tour". This is where each state holds a grand prix style meet throughout the Athletics season and allows the best of the best to compete against each other for cash. I will be traveling to Newcastle, Hobart, Christchurch in NZ, and Melbourne. The Sydney Track Classic is in March at Homebush and would be great to see a few familiar faces in the crowd! Already I've done a 100m, 200m, and 600m personal best, and equalled my 800m best time. Just hanging out for a break through in the one lap! I have been sponsored by a website called RunnersTribe.com which updates results and blogs about Australian and International runners, a recovery and rehydration brand 'SiS', and New Balance. So a huge thank you to them for all their support so far!! I'm back at the lovely Sydney Uni in March this year, continuing on with my Bachelor of Liberal Arts and Science, majoring in literature and writing and have been enjoying the sunny summer weather in Sydney! Hope everyone is well and had a great Christmas and New Year. Lots of Love, A. xx
